Anyone have a dog with regularly chattering teeth?
My 11 year old pointer has teeth chatter a good portion of the day! Nooo, it’s not that he’s “excited” – he’s not having a seizure either. He just has teeth chatter – his mouth is closed and his teeth (which are strong and white – great dental check up) just chitter chatter in his happy head – he can be begging, sitting on the sofa vegging, for the past 20 minutes he’s just been happily hanging out chattering. He IS on synthetic thyroid – we’ll check to see if it’s the right dose soon. It’s so ANNOYING! I love him and he’s all friendly and happy and CHATTERY!My dog loves to nibble on cloth items.
It is pretty much the same thing but not as loud.
Try giving your pet something to nibble on when he does this. i walk a dog, and only twice (its weird), shes started chattering. 1 time it was a cold day and my key took a while, and th othr time, her leash was caught. i ignored it but my theory is tht its kinda like a growl and a shiver…. this dogs also old….. 10? maybe its an older- dog thing.i must say that would be something to ask the vet especially if it started when he started the meds but other then that ive seen dogs come into the hospital that do that when they are nervious, hurting, and some that just always have done it You are going to check to see if it’s the righ dose soon????? Why not call the vet tomorrow and find out what is causing this condition in your dog as it is not normal. Only when I slap him does his teeth chatter.Only kidding.Ma-be he’s cold.Have you ever watched a mexican chihuahua? they shake all the time.The only time my dog does this is when there’s a ****** in the neighbourhood that’s in heat he goes nuts and sits at the window chattering away or bagging at us to go outside everything quiveringThe only time my poodle,Alexis, chatters her teeth is when she is mad.

No, they must be in season to get pregnant. HOWEVER, some dogs have silent heat cycles that show no obvious symptoms. her last heat was the begning of sept! we do not know when she got pregnant because her owners kept her away from their male, (we adopted her two weeks after her last heat) i am so excited becuase this dog has become my baby and we just found out she is pregnant about 5 days ago is when we really started to notice, its when we could really feel the puppies! lat night i went and boought a thermontor to take her temp it was 99.6 today it was 99.3… i wish there was a way i could tell she was close? and how close she is? mind sharing with me what your expirance with birthing dogs is?? From past experiences, my female was pregnant 63 days.
I bought 2 different sizes of kiddy swimming pools, brought them in to our bedroom, a few weeks BEFORE the pups were born, i put a clean blanket in the bottom, which is where the mother laid, and slept at night. I wanted her close to me, especially at bedtime, other wise she is in our home, and running, playing in all the rooms.
WOW !!! at 430am, i heard the puppy yipping, it was on from there, my Meiah, was a wonderful mother, yes, we did, help her to deliver the pups. We had approx. 15 new (white) hand towels, ready to help her CLEAN and DRY the pups with. After the pups turned 3 weeks old, we did switch to the larger kiddy pool, so they could not get out, of course we would take them out and play with the pups. You know, you should change the blankets at least twice a day, to be sure and keep the pups, and mother clean and dry. It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep the pups dry and warm. KEEP A CLOSE EYE on the mother, be sure the pups are not biting, and scratching her belly , if this starts to happen, i would suggested a milk replacer and put the pups on a milk replacer.Hey…all this information is great! You should really call your vet and ask them….they could give you even better idea of what to expect and what to do after birth.
I sincerely hope that you will get her spayed after this so you won’t have any future surprises!
Since this isn’t your mistake, please take care of those precious darlings! be sure to place them in loving homes! Ask for references and vet references, make sure to ask for an adoption fee and get the new owners address and phone number to make sure the little ones will be taken care of!
Good Luck!Sounds like you are close. It takes 63 days, so if she was in heat in early Sept to now is very close. An ultrasound or x-ray may give you a closer guess, but more likely to tell you how many rather than when.Ashley L, I haven’t had any problems with my shih tzu.Leave her alone.

I had a small dog that had puppies under a bed. That was where she felt safe.
Your dog probably won’t need any help and will keep herself from having the puppies until you are away from her. Dogs know instinctively what to do, and the best thing you can do is stay out of her way.
I can’t imagine having 2 to 6 babies in my tummy and someone constantly fooling with me, and picking me up. Try to understand how she feels and go from there.
Good luck and hope they are all healthy. u should take her to the vet to c how far she is really along so u can be ready around her due date. i would talk to ur vet so u can know what to and not expect when ur dog goes into labor. and how to help ur dog if she needs it. also if u still have time read some books and research so u can be well infromed and prepared. also make sure to have the supplies ready before the pups come. like towels, a whelping box where the mom can give birth,a bottle and pup formual just in case the mom rejects her pups or if one pup is not eating to well. there are some other things to get too so talk to ur vet on what to have handy.if she was in heat beginning of Sept,find out what day she started her heat cycle,she can get pregnant between the 9th day to the 19th,but her most fertile is 11 to 16th day,take her temp and if it stays at 99 she will have puppies soon,she will start to pant,she’ll want to go potty often,but this only mean puppy on its way so make sure she is not left outside alone to potty,how old is she,you may have to remove the sack,aspitrate the puppy and you’ll have to tie the cord,I used dental floss,I tied it about 1 inch from her belly,do not cut to short,puppy may get hernia,have iodine to put on cord after its cut,make sure you feed her a great quality of puppy food,she will need to eat 4 or 5 times a day,her food intake should double ,buy wet dog food to give to her a teaspoon at a time just before you thnk a puppy will come out,she will need her strength,have plenty of fresh water for her,
Its an exciting time if you are prepared,and nerve recking if you are not,you will need to know if she is in danger,when she is ready to deliver a pup,she will look like she does after she poops,when she makes sure there no more,make sure Vet number on hand,every pup has a placenta,i only let my girl eat one,and you gal may vomit about 30 min to an hour after she is done,its part of the prcess,if you need more info email me

Many Vets have never delived a litter of puppies,so many breeders know more then Vets,I know I knew more then mine,
I saw a video of a vet delivering puppies and I wanted to scream,the gal seems in light contraction and this vet kept feathering the gal,guess the breeder was afraid to bring these puppies intot he world,I wanted to yank at the Vet…
Not all vet have even delivered a litter of puppy,remember that,yours may not know,just what she learned in school
if puppies are scratching,cut their nails don’t give milk replacer if mom is doing great in nursing,really some ppl shouldn’t answer questions like this,at 6 week old puppies should of already weened off,so at 3.5 weeks old start with some puppy food with water,make a mush,and slowly have mom feed them less,never use milk replacer if mom is doing great on feedingWell, you should have taken her to the vet when you suspected that she was pregnant and had her checked out. Do you have any idea how many puppies to expect? Do you know what to expect during her delivery? You should have discussed all this with your vet prior to her having her pups.
Here is some information that might help you out.
IMPENDING LABOR
When your dog’s due date is approaching, you should begin monitoring her rectal temperature. When her temperature drops below 100o F (normal canine temperature is 101-102o F), labor may be expected within 24 hours.
THE FIRST STAGE OF LABOR
During this stage, uterine contractions begin. The ***** will appear very restless and may pace, dig, shiver, pant, or even vomit. This is all normal and all an owner can do is see that the ***** has water available should she want it. This stage of labor is very long, lasting 6-12 hours and culminates with full dilation of the cervix in preparation to expel a puppy.
THE SECOND AND THIRD STAGES OF LABOR
The second stage is the “hard labor” stage in which the puppy is expelled. The third stage refers to the expulsion of the placenta and afterbirth. Each pup may not be followed by afterbirth; the mother may pass two pups and then two placentas. This is normal.
Puppies are born covered in membranes which must be cleaned away or the pup will suffocate. The mother will bite and lick the membranes away. Allow her a minute or two after birth to do this; if she does not do it, then you must clean the pup for her. Simply remove the slippery covering and rub the puppy with a clean towel. The umbilical cord may be tied in a knot about one inch from the pup and cut with scissors on the far side of the knot.
Expect one pup every 45-60 minutes with 10-30 minutes of hard straining. It is normal for bitches to “take a rest” partway through delivery and she may not strain at all for up to four hours between pups. If she is seen straining hard for over one hour or if she takes longer than a four hour break, a veterinarian should be consulted.
Expect some puppies (probably half of them) to be born tail first. This is not abnormal for dogs.
CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN IF:
30-60 minutes of strong contractions occur with no puppy being produced.
Greater than four hours pass between pups and you know there are more inside.
She fails to go into labor within 24 hours of her temperature drop.
She is in obvious extreme pain.
Greater than 70 days of gestation have passed.
It is normal for the ***** to spike a fever in the 24-48 hours following birth. This fever should not be accompanied by clinical signs of illness.
Normal vaginal discharge after parturition should be odorless and may be green, dark red-brown or bloody and may persist in small amounts for up to 8 weeks.
it takes 12wks. the closer they get to having the puppies the more hair they will lose around their nipples starting from the back hind legs and going upwards towards the head. the dog will also become less active and probably won’t eat when getting close to time of delivery. you can take the dog to the vet and get some tests ran to find out exactly how far along and when the due date is. congrats & good luck!
Is my dog going to be ok?
My dog got into two plastic bags and shredded them up. I don’t know if she ate any plastic but when I took it away from her she started gaging and spitting up spit. She seemed ok later but I’m worried. I gave her some food so if there was any in her throat it would go down. She ate all her food but I’m still worried!I would give her some olive oil to help any plastic go through & if she seems off colour at all get her to a vet. Plastic can cover over the opening to the bowel or lodge just about anywhere in her system & cause terrible problems & even death.pets eat and lick plastic bags because they contain animal fat that we cant smell but they can but i would keep an eye on her if she stops eatting or drinking or just isnt her self id get her to the vet asap but also check her poo the next couple of days for pices of the bagLook my dog gets into lots of things like that give him or her some butter or oil with his or her food also watch for it to come out the other end.
Make sure her appetite and desire to drink stay normal and WATCH THAT SHE POOPS! If she does not poop, there may be a blockage and she will need to see a vet ASAPWatch her ver carefully and if she seems off color take her to the vet.It’s hard to say.. Watch her, if you see signs that there is a problem. rush her to the vet.
Can anything be done to correct a dogs sight?
I suspect that one of my dogs might not be able to see so well. He isnt blind but he gets scared if there are shiny spots on the floor, or using he stairs at night, and there has just been some other things where I seriously think he has a vision problem… Is there anything that can be done to test him and correct his vision?It will probably be expensive, but go to the vet.
