surely they have a coat that keeps them warm enough?
The other night there was a chill in the air but no before the frost came. I saw 3 border collies with dog coats on at agility. each time they went round the course on went the coat.. I understand dogs like greyhounds needing coats but a border collie it seems stupid does it not?Yes,pwaying dwess-up w/dogs is stupid & silly.
Unfortunately most humans ARE.even though these dogs are the same breed they have different requiements. also working border collies coats may not look thicker but they generally are. the reason the agility dogs had they coats put on was beacuse they are like ahteletes. when a race horse at the course they always have rugs on but most "pet" horses and ponies have their rugs on only in the middle of winter.Dogs used on farms are generally housed outside with the livestock.. they acclimate better and faster.
Dogs used for agility are more likely housed inside.. they are not as well-acclimated to the cooler weather.
If you could feel the difference in the coat, you’d find that the outside working dog has a thicker coat already than one that is mostly housed indoors. If these were indoor dogs, the coat will serve two purposes, to prevent triggering the thick undercoat growth, to keep them warm since they will not have the natural coat cycle.

My vet had told me the bad news. My 14 year old german shepherd, is reaching his time. I am going to be so sad when the time comes. I have grown up with this dog. But should I barey him next to his best friend, or cremate him? I have saved up a lot of money for when the time comes, but in your opinion, what would be best?
here is a picture of him. His name is Cheech Dawg. This picture was taken not too long ago.
