i was wondering i have a pure bred pug that later on i would like to put with a female pug.my mother is buying herself the female but the only thing is the pups have the same father but different mothers can you breed them or is there high risk of haven deformed or sick puppies? It’s best not too.
A. Because there can be a risk of having deformed or sick puppies.
and B. Because we don’t need anymore unwanted puppies.
A little research into the history of dog breeds and breeding will quickly reveal that such breeding is for the most part how all the varieties of dogs we now have came to be. Not just half brother/sister, son/mother, sire/daughter etc.
That being said, this is a very meticulous genetic science, used to create specific dogs and breeds, then to lock that breed to breed true. The Argentine Mastif is a relatively recent breed created by such means over many generations of dog. It is a slow and meticulous craft, requiring long term commitment and record-keeping.
There is, what many will call a dark side to all of that, such breeding also involves very absolute culling of the litters. Not just the puppies that are born defective, but also those that do not come out on the desired path.
Close breeding like this is not something that even most breeders want to be involved in, and requires more than a passing interest in the bigger science of genetics.
So yes it is done. Whether or not it should be done is likely a morality question for most people. Animal breeding has been done in these ways for thousands of years, and most of what we now know and love as individual dog breeds, cattle breeds, horse breeds etc, where created by such means. When it is done it is done with a long term perspective, to create a specific blood line, or even, as in the case of the Argentine Mastif for instance, a whole new breed. People who successfully breed at this level will devote and entire lifetime to the creation of a blood line, and when they are successful, we’ve all profited from their devotion.
I think in your case what you need to appreciate is that mentioned dark side, you may be put in a position of having to cull the litter, only you can know if that is a path you choose to journey down.I agree with missy.. what is the point in breeding these dogs?
Is it for the love of the breed or just for money?
If it’s just for the money then you have no right to be breeding.
There are enough unwanted and unloved dogs in the world as it is, I don’t believe you should bring in even more in-bred puppies who will probably have all sorts of medical problems into the world.
How would you like it if your mom or dad made you have sex with your half-brother or half-sister? That’s gross, don’t do it.Do you know anything about breeding dogs? Are you prepared for a worst case scenario where the female dies and the puppies die? How about a $3000 c-section because this breed has a tendancy to need one? And on top of all this you are willing to take the risk of breeding siblings? You are sick in the head my friend.yes you can breed them they both have the parts.. lol..
but i reccomend that you dont.. they are to closely related to breed from them. and as most other people say there are to many puppys already.
if you want to breed how bout you look for a dog that has done really well in the show ring and see if your dog does well being showed. then get them health tested, and their hips tested. also do all the reseach before you even consider putting a dog over your *****
think about it this way. would you sleep with a guy that had the same father as you??
dont jump in to breeding lightly it is a big job and costs alot of money..NOOOOOOOOO!
Dont breed the same bloodlines (brother and sister ect), they will be deformed, if not physical then mental. Or physical later in life.
You will be bringing a litter in the world, who have not a chance….I think this is called line breeding. In poodles it gives you an extrememly intelligent dog with absolutely no sense of fear. My mothers line bred teacup took on a 1/2 wolf. he lost.
Other than that I’m convinced that thats where chihuahuas come from.Definitely do not breed a brother and sister! Deformities can result. That’s why it is illegal for human relatives to marry, because of the risks of deformities.Aside from deformities, the risk of death is substantially higher. Do not do this, it will only cause grief and suffering for everyone involved.Breeding CRAP to CRAP makes MORE crap-no matter what the pedigree is!
You have CRAP & can ONLY produce MORE CRAP!!!
95% of ALL purebred dogs are NOT show/breeding quality!NO. if the puppies are deformed or something wrong with them. You will feel bad. Do not do itOnly a reputable breeder who has done genetic health testing on both dogs, and has 100% knowledge of the pedigrees would attempt this breeding.
Inbreeding and line breeding can be useful in "locking in" deisred traits, and breeding away from health issues, but only if its done properly and the research and genetic tests are done beforehand… just breeding dogs together without the knowledge or tests can backfire and cause genetic defects and health issues at the same time.
Even at that, half sibling breedings are a little "too close for comfort" for many breeders.
ADDED
Even if you find an unrelated dog, you still need to research bloodlines and dog genetic health tests before breeding. Both could could easily carry recessive genes for undesired traits, including health problems… even if not related.

I rescued a 3 month old puppy when she was hit by a car right in front of me. The man in the van a head of me didn’t swerve nor slow down to miss her and hit her at 50 miles an hours. I stopped because she was still alive in the middle of the road. I took her to the vet and she had a broken leg and a messed up pelvis. I didn’t have the thousand dollars for the surgery on her leg but the vet said if I kept her immobile for two weeks she might get better. Well, that was on Oct. 1 and now she is very healthy and fit and walking/running but now she won’t seem to eat. I have gotten her Iams Puppy chow along with treats and bones. She will gobble up the treats and bones but turns her nose up at the Puppy chow so I got her Purina thinking that it was the puppy chow she didn’t like. She turns her nose up at this too. This is the first time I have ever had a dog. I have always had cats. I fell in love with her because she is so cute, however I can’t seem to get her to eat and I’m afraid she’s going to starve herself to death. Is there anyone here who knows how to make a puppy eat? She’s a mixed breed, small sized dog.
