Yes, because you can’t keep 100% of the mosquitoes off a dog 100% of the time – all it takes is one to give a dog heartworm. Best to be safe.Oh my yes you would, theres always a chance that a mosquito will get the dog when the product weakens or wears off. It’s so much cheaper to give a once a month pill than it is to spend $1000′s on a treatment that can be potentially fatal.
Please give your dog heartworm preventative, 1/2 the dogs that come into our rescue are heartworm positive.YES! As other answers have said, repellents don’t protect your dog from all of the mosquitoes he can come in contact with.
Look at it from a cost perspective:
Iverhart (a common once-a-month heartworm preventative) costs around $100 a year. If the dog becomes infected with heartworm, TREATMENT (as opposed to prevention) can cost you MANY hundreds of dollars, and your dog is supposed to be strictly confined for WEEKS and even then there’s still the possibility he won’t survive. Do you want that?Yes. What kind of product, like spraying your dog with Off or something similar for dogs?
You can’t cover your entire dog in repellent, and just as with people, mosquitos will keep looking for that one spot that has no spray on it, to bite. I would rather have my dog be protected against heartworm than take the chance with a repellent, which is covering the dog in a chemical anyway.Yes.
Dont be a cheapie,I buy 3 monthly heartworm treatments for $35.
You can also get a vaccine for $80 once a year.
It costs ALOT less than having to save your dog once he gets heartworm.
Mosquito repellents can cause a dog skin problems or even be very toxic to them.Yes! Heartworms are too dangerous to take the chance of not using a preventative. Yup. All it takes is one female mosquito bite. Can’t be too cautious, this is your pet!yes

I’ve had my dog for a year now, she’s a two year old cockier spaniel mini poodle mix and she doesn’t like me. She used to. My family loved her, I loved her, and she loved all of us. As time went on, she loved my family more and more and me the same. I was the one who took her on walks every weekend (My dad on the weekdays, because I had school) I taught her all her tricks and gave her treats and loved her and petted her and played with her and let her sleep in my bed. But about a week ago, she started practically ignoring me, and I don’t know what to do. What’s triggering this? Nothing has changed. But my dog loves me less and less every day. She doesn’t do this to anybody else, and I’m confused and heartbroken. Please help me.
