hey i posted a question 3 days ago and basicaaly i was this close to having my dogs taken away, the american bull dog went through fine at the airport, but we still had a few problems with my pit girl, luckily since she’s only a puppy the guy assumed she was a staff and i didn’t tell him any different, well i just got back from the airport and im lost…what do i do now? has anyone else lost a dog before, and i want to get another but not now…is that a good idea?wow so their gone huh, well look this is a good thing remember, their better off>>>> i hope your giving your neighbors hell!! and yes getting another dog would be good, but first have a nice break from the whole situation, and when you do decide to get a dog this time make sure you know it’s background if it’s a shelter and if you decide to buy from a breeder make sure their kc and healthy and everything in order>>>> NO MORE PITS IN THE UK!!!!!!! but i can tell you like large breeds so maybe a german shepherd of a staff….but think it through first first…good luck
and be strong!Well you can’t get the brought over here, because of the Dangerous Dogs Act (1979?)
so your better off leaving themin america with someone you trust.
Where abouts in the UK are you?
Theres plenty of rescue shelters so aslong as you can provide a great home I don’t see any reason not to get a new dog aslong as your other ones are still being well cared for.
Its not your fault, but the law was deffo made for a reason,
Also, ALOT of people are prejudiced towards rotties over here, as so many babies have been killed by them recently, so if you want a dog like that, i would say get a Mastiff or a Staffie or something because your new neighbours will probably be a bit hostile towards you if you bring a rottie in,
A staffie x Lab would be a good dog for you i think if you like Pitbulls, they look quite similar but have a great personailty usually.
Remeber:: You can legally own a dog which is covered by the DDA, if they are muzzled in pubil, on a leash, and neutered.
But im not sure if you’d be able to get your dog imported.
sad but you did the right thing in the long run
if you did’nt the pain would of been harder for you
your pit will be better off in america were it can live
a better life with no danger of being put down
only you will know if your ready for anoughter dog
if you want anoughter dog and your ready go for it
good luck that’s so sad. I couldn’t live in the UK, cause my Pit has to go with me everywhere. Won’t give her up because people are scared. There’s no reason to be scared of the breed….make’s me sooo mad. But, have you considered getting a cat? Where have your dogs gone to?
You will miss them. Is there a chance you can have them back?
I have had to have pet dogs put to sleep before and it is awful. You miss them terribly.
I had went and looked up the question to see what’s going, and that’s so sad
But the important thing is they’re safe now.
I think that when you’re ready you should get another. Why were they going to get taken away? If it is because they weren’t taken care of properly then no you shouldn’t get another dog.Try volunteering at a local animal shelter for awhile. This will help you get over the loss of your dogs and you will be helping needy dogs find forever homes. I have just read your other question, at least your dogs were not destroyed, that has to be a good thing
you need a licence to keep pitbulls in the u.k. because they’re on the dangerous dogs list!i don’t understand.. your dogs are lost?! who lost them? i thought they were fine at the airport?!Okay – I remember your original question and I’m really happy for you that you were able to get them out of the country and into a ‘safe’ home. Well done.
As for replacing them, frankly I think I’d sit back for a while and take a deep breath before you dash into this. Losing them, whether they are still alive or not, is going to be very painful, even if they were quite young and it’s not as if you had them for years and years. I know how I felt when unusually I had to rehome an older dog I’d bred because he refused to stop fighting with his uncle. I think you will feel better once you hear they’ve safely landed, and receive some photos of them in their new home
Then you can start to look for another puppy/older dog?
Good luck – and stay away from anything that remotely looks like a Pit ……. and two fingers up to your neighbours eh.
