he is a Schipperke / Chihuahua mix hes Always up for playing but get bored playing with us so what breed do you think would keep him busy and occupied the way he wishesI would recommend getting another small dog. Maybe another Chihuahua or Schipperke, or a Cocker Spaniel or something. Whatever you get, get it as a puppy so it can grow up with the other dog, as both Chihuahuas and Schipperkes are strong-willed.

My fiance and I adopted this sweet girl from the Human Society and she is almost 7 month old and weighs 16 lbs…. she keeps getting bigger and wonder if shes a whippet rather than an IG. Any imput????
She looks like an IG. But since you got her from a Humane Society you can never be completely sure about her breeding. I would say that she is an IG mix. Besides she is as cute as can be so what does it really matter!!! I think that she is precious!!!You have asked this a number of times now, and gotten some very good answers.
In my opinion, she is a VERY poorly bred IG, with maybe some Whippet in her past bloodlines.
IG’s are bred to a standard of 13-15 inches at the withers, at 16 pounds, I would imagine she exceeds the height requirement.Definitely a greyhound. Whippets are pretty uncommon and really expensive! IGs are smaller than that. She appears to be a poor example of an IG. Whippets aren’t rare, but there isn’t enough of her to be a Whippet.Italian Greyhound – she does look sweet.
Plus I appreciate her wire and dapple friends!!
She looks more like IG than a whippet to me. She looks more of IG to me than a whippet. Hope it helpsMy guess is an IG

Hello,
My dog was slept with tilted head for 3-4 hrs. When she woke up she was not able to turn her head to other side. She is shaking her head constantly & it make cracking noise. Its night here now otherwise I would have taken her to vet right away. Pls advise if I should :
1. wait. it will go away… just like it happens with human when we sleep with our head tilted
2. wait & go to vet tomm morning
3. go to emergency vet hospital (its costly & I know they wuld easily make $400-500 bill).
Please advise asap. Thanks.

My 3 month old cockapoo has been biting a lot ( I know that is expected of pups of course) but he growls and bites pretty hard. What is some good ideas for training him not to bite and be more gentle? I know he must grow out of a bit of it but is there something I can do? Thank you! Some things that helped me with my mouthy Shiba Inu puppy:
1. Hand-feed him
You can try and teach him some bite inhibition. Hand-feed him some kibble one by one. If he bites too hard while trying to get at his food, yelp in a high pitch, and ignore him for a few seconds. Then start feeding him again. This way he learns that biting hard can hurt humans and when he does that, the food and attention stops. Hand-feeding is also good for bonding and establishing your leadership.
2. When your dog has his mouth on you, it is important NOT to jerk away. Jerking away will cause you to get scratched. More importantly, sudden and quick movements may make your dog think it is a fun game and reinforce his biting/mouthing behavior. At worst, quick movements may instigate your dog’s prey drive and cause her to get aggressive. Instead, stay still and either give a No command or yelp as a puppy might do to his litter-mates when they are playing too rough. I use the yelp for puppies who are still learning and for accidental biting.
3. Yelping will startle your dog and cause him to release his mouth. Quickly follow that up by redirecting him onto a toy. You don’t need to shove it in, just put it there for him to bite on. When he starts biting and playing with the toy, praise him and play with him.
4. If your dog persists and keeps biting on you even, then stop interacting with him and ignore him.
5. If your dog amps up his biting and tries to bite your leg or clothes when you are ignoring him, then say "time-out" and remove him to a time-out area (a safe but boring room, e.g. laundry room). Leave him in there for a couple of minutes and let him out. If he starts up again, non-mark him (ack, ack), and say time-out and put him back in time-out. This time lengthen the duration to about 10-15 minutes. Note that if your dog stops the biting behavior, make sure to praise him a lot and give him good treats. Keep this up and your dog will learn that certain behaviors get him rewards while others get him into a boring room with nothing to do.
Don’t EVER let your puppy mouth you. Ya, it is cute as a puppy, but just wait until it gets older and starts biting really hard.
Google "bite inhibition" and get some good ideas to help train him. Sometimes my aussie tries to mouth me, and if I yelp and turn my back on her, she stops immediately. He is just playing with you as if you were a puppy also. To correct this, just walk away from him anytime he gets too rough. Always play with him using a toy, and not your hands. Some people "yelp" when the puppy bites them too, but I think you can do without saying anything at all…
good luckIf your puppy keeps on biting, grab the skin on the back of his neck and give him a little shake. His mom would so the same if he bit her. You are the alpha dog in the house, put him in his place. anytime the puppy does something aggressive, make sure that you let him know that this is not ok, i used to hold my puppies mouths closed and said NO, none of them nip, it seemed to work for meThat isn’t aggression so don’t worry about that. Do worry about a lot of leash training to establish boundaries and show the dog that biting isn’t okaypuppies like to play is all, try rewarding good behavior with treats and if they are being too agressive hold their mouths closed and tell them firmly no, but dont be mean with them your puppy is just teething just give her a chew toy, good luck!

I say the standard, miniature and toy poodles in a magazine i have and i really adored them. I like the miniature NOT the toy or standard!! I was wondering though what are they like? Temperament, age expectancy, amount of food they eat, vet costs (shot’s and wormers etc.), cost to buy a good one from a breeder grooming expenses and all the dogie things also. Are they easily trained and good for a first timer??poodles are a wonderfull breed no matter what their size, they are inteligent and eager to please (they are rated as the most "inteligent"
dog breed though this realy means out of all the breds tested poodles were the most eager to please because their inteligence is teted via how easy they are to train!)
Life expectancy for a minature is LONG, smaller breeds have longer average lifespans in general and minis can live well past 15 yrs old! (toys even longer!) there generally a healthy breed, watch for knee problems and heart issues (get form a good breeder to limite these issues) because of this vet expenses tend to be low, everything else is dependant on your location, a mini poodle will cost no less to vacinate than any other small to medium breed.
cost to buy from a good breeder will depend again on your area, and on what your looking for in a dog, pet quality will go for less but will have to be spay/neutered, show quality dogs will cost ALOT more and a GOOD breeder will make you prove you know what our doing with a "full contract" dog, this includes SHOWING and health tests as well as restrictions on breeding. my suggestion to you is get a "pet quality" dog (these are dogs that are just not Quite show quality mabe the coat hasnt got quite the right kind or the ears set a little high on the head ect, they are still mini poodles and from a good breeder should look like one! a good pet quality will go for anything from $400-$700
or rescue a mini, there are many in shelters. adoption fees vary by rescue and state.
temperment, train and socilize to avoid yippyness and nervousness with strangers, otherwise WONDERFULL, and food, well, feed a high wuality food (no by-products) and there realy not expensive to feed! (chepaer foods end up costing more in the long run because you have to feed more of it!)
your BIG cost will be grooming, poodles need to see a groomer every 4-8 weeks depending on the cut, grooming a poodle is NOT a task a new owner should be taking on.
if your planning on some of the more fancy cuts you can expect to be heading to the groomer once a month and bathing once a week, but a simple puppy or kennel clip will be ok with regular bathing, brushing and a 6-8 week visit to the groomer…this is a trip that the puppy should start doing young so they get used to the groomer.
for a mini poodle the groomer neer me charges $50 for a bath, blow dry, and a BASIC puppy or kennel clip, they also clean the ears, trim nails ect. fancier clips start at $60 and go up depending on complexity.
once your dog is used to the groomer and youve seen it done a few times you can, if you keep your dog in a simple cut, shave it yourself, but i do reccomend a good couple of visits WATCHIGN the groomer doing it first!
good luck, poodles are great dogswell this is how they r like
The Stadard Poodle is refined, elegant, and dignified. The breed is naturally kind, even-tempered, and sensitive. They are highly intelligent and very easy to train. This breed needs to be in the company of people, and they can鈥檛 stand to be alone for extensive periods of time. They are good with children and generally friendly towards strangers. They can make decent guard dogs and they can be trained to hunt. The larger variety of Standard Poodle tends to be calmer than the smaller varieties.
maintaince:The coat of the Standard Poodle requires a great deal of grooming and maintenance. The breed must be bathed on a regular basis, and the coat must be clipped every six to eight weeks. Ears should be inspected, and excess hair around the ears should be removed. Teeth of this breed need frequent scaling. This breed sheds little to no hair, and many believe they are a good choice of pet for allergy sufferers
All of the poodle varieties are extremely smart and easily trained if you start early. The smaller ones are lap dogs and want nothing more than to just be with you all day. The miniature I have seen get as old as 18 years old. They generally would only eat 1cup of food a day. I would expect to pay a hefty price for a well breed healthy puppy, say upwards of $500. Grooming expenses would probably run about $40 every 2 or 3 months, unless you decide to keep one shaggy. You would also need to buy brushes and combs so that you could keep one free of knots in between grooming. They really are sweet little dogs and I think that if you are up for the grooming and in between brushing then yes they make a great first time dog!!! Good Luck!!!I have a miniature poodle and he is great. Poodles are very smart and can be very playful at times. All in all, my poodle is the best thing that came into my life. No matter what, they will make you very happy. The cost of poodles varies and if you find a good vet, it shouldn’t matter how much it would cost to keep you pet healthy. If you decide to get a miniature poodle, I hope you enjoy him or her in your life.Poodles no matter the variety, are very smart and easily trained. Everything else you asked for will have too many variables to answer.

We took her to the vet day before yesterday her stomach was rock hard she was shaking and drooling and extremely lethargic. while at the vets she threw up what looked like berries. She is still sick she hasn’t eaten for 2 days she is still trembly and won’t move. some times she just stands up and stands there until I lead her back and tell her to lie down.
Now she doesn’t seem to want water either. Any help would be appreciated. She needs to see a vet, go to an emergency vet clinic, no one will be able to help you except for the vet. It’s time that you take your dog back to the vet and I would suggest going to a different vet. Depending on where you live, there might be an emergency clinic nearby. But the best advice I can offer is to get your dog to the vet A.S.A.P!!!!!your dog either got bitten by something or is dieing form something it ate like Chocolate, it can kill Golden’s but it also might be pregnant you know
the same thing happened to our cat
but it died it wasn’t pregnantwhen my dog was sick they told us to feed her cooked white rice and pumpkin (like raw, canned, regular pumpkin. "libbys")
Good Luck!!!You need to take her back to the vet before she get too dehydrated. If the first vet you took her to didn’t help go to a different one!!Maybe your dog ate poisonous berries. You said that your dog’s throw up looked like berries, so maybe your dog ate poisonous berries.Call the vet back and let them know she is not better. They need to know so they can help her. Call tonight even if it is after hours. Or go to an emergency vet.For heaven’s sake a dog this ill should have been hospitalized! Please keep her warm but otherwise let her be until you can get her back to the vet ASAPtake her to the animal hospital if the vet doen’t help
please check this too answers.yahoo.com/question/index?…Please get her to a vet soon! If your vet doesn’t answer you get her to the nearest available vet, this sounds awful. AND GOOD LUCK!I heard another question like this a few days ago but why didn’t the vet help her.Take her to the ER vet STAT! She needs help now! Poor thing I hope she is OK soon!
Good luck!It sounds like your vet has’nt helped, you should get an 2nd opinion. If your current vet isnt helping i suggest for you to see a another vet.For crying out loud, get your dog back to the vet. Or find a new vet.I WOULD GET A NEW VET…THIS ONE DID NOTHING TO HELP HER
GOOD LUCK!sound like pregenacy
my dog was like then i took it to doggy hospital she was pregaunt
it was that she was youngWhy isn’t your vet helping?maybe the dog wants to die

They would likely not make it.
Don’t do it…Why would YOU give a dog a shot anyways? doesn’t sounds like your very informed on how to do it if you don’t know that you don’t give pregnant dogs shots…of anything
