Whenever i cross my arms it walks away and hides behind the nearest person/furniture.
I am 15 and have never hurt my dog at all, not one single bit. So why is it when i cross my arms she is scared, she is fine when i look at her any other way, just when i cross my arms is the problem,
Please help, and i dont wnat any you are hitting your dog answers, because i have never laid a finger on her.
Thanks, also my dog is 6 months old/girl/ shih tzu-bischon friseCrossing your arms is an ‘ignore’ signal used when you want to ask your dog to go away/stop jumping up etc. So basically she’s doing what she thinks you are asking of her!
Is yours the only home she’s had – perhaps she was trained to respond to this signal by somebody else?she sees you as the alpha which is good, she thinks that whenever you cross your arms you are showing her how big and strong you are, by hiding from you she is telling you that she knows how big and strong you are and that she is not a threat. the way to stop her doing this is by making her associate you folding your arms with something good happening, eg. fold your arms and as soon as you do, say "good girl" in a happy friendly voice and give her a treat (hold the treat in your hand so that you can give it to her staright away, if she has to wait for the treat, she won’t associate you folding your arms with the treat). carry this on until she knows that she gets a reward every time you fold your arms and then gradually, make her wait a bit longer for the "good girl" and the treat each time. Good luck and i hope this helps!!usually a dog associates the movement to something bad. Maybe something happened to her before she was in your care. Otherwise, those small dogs tend to be afraid of a lot of things for no reasons. Perhaps in her mind, she find you imposing when crossing your arms and the message she gets is hat she might of done something bad so she hides.
My dog crawls away when I point my finger at her because she knows that its because she chewed something she wasn’t suppose to.
Other than that, there isn’t much of an explanation since you never raised a hand against your dog.Not sure, but for some reason this dog think something bad will happen when a human crosses their arms.
Maybe somebody scolded the dog and crossed their arms when they did it?
Anyway, if you want to be able to cross your arms when she is around I’d start slow and work up to the folded arms. Try doing it slowly and see at what point she looks scared. Stop just short of that and while you’re doing it, speak in a happy voice, call her name, so she gets verbal cues from you that you are happy with her. Hopefully you should be able to erase whatever bad association she has with those folded arms!Hmm that’s a tricky one, however, if you attempt to "comfort" her when she’s scared all you’ll do is reinforce that behavior making her think it’s ok to be scared. Thing to do is well don’t cross your arms..lol…or just walk away and leave her be for a while until she recovers then once she does take her for a walk or play with her. If you ignore a behavior you don’t like it’ll soon go away and over time her fear will vanish.
Good luckThose pups are so adorable. I take it you have been the only owner maybe.
When arms are in the open position that is a way of saying I welcome you to anyone and to have your arms crossed that means don’t enter this is my turf ; it surely does not welcome. Also your facial expressions will send a big signal to her.
I would walk a way from you also because I would think that you had no interest in talking to me. Closed arms would represent to me "End of conversation".Try this: Put a treat in each hand and then call her to you. Cross your arms and when she runs and hides, call her and offer her a treat from each hand. She must have been hurt by someone before you, so give her a lot of patience . Do this several times over and over each week and soon she will love the game!my dog does that too!
Maybe one of the other people, or you that know the dog cross there arms when they are angry with it.
My dog runs away when i say go too bed.. and when i point outside…
she is just remembers when/maybe/ you got angry at her for doing somehthing wrong and you crossed your arms
just thinking outloud.. Im sure shes not scared of you.
hope everything works out.maybe she thinks you’ll get cross with her? people sometimes cross their arms when theyre angry
you need to show her that you wont hurt her
try sitting down with her and putting treats on your arm,
let her eat them then SLOWLY, cross your arms,
tell her she’s a good girl and that its ok. in a gentle voice so she knows nothing will happen,
keep doing this until she isnt scared anymorethis is kind of off topic as im refering to horses but the same principle applies to that tiny dog you appear much bigger and much less inviting… the treats on the arm will probably work but dont force it as she will almost certainly end up more scared than she was in the first place
GOOD LUCK!!Dogs go by body language and coz crossing your arms isnt a welcoming sign your dog is interpreting it as a bad sign, poor wee thing, jst keep reassuring her everything is fine, maybe talk nice while your arms are crossed to let her know everything is fine, good luck xDogs see the world differently from the way we do. We communicate using our ears first, then our eyes, and lastly our nose. Dogs begin with the nose, then the eyes, and lastly the ears. Allowing a dog to experience our scent before we engage it in eye contact or speak to it is one way to establish trust.
When you enter the room, just ignore her. Let her come to you. She needs to greet you on her terms. your dog is probably scared of you when you cross your arms because it makes you look cross with them and they think your going to tell them off. try crossing your arms and having a treat in your hand, your dog will smell it and realise that you mean them no harm. She more than likely sees this as a threat of punishment. Dogs don’t see things the way we do. If I growl or curse at something my dogs submit by hanging their heads and skulking off and lying on their beds even if it isn’t directed at them. Just don’t cross your arms in front of her.i think its new to you… so if is scared of u. try to tame u r dog offering it some dog biscuits or what ever it like especially chicken, etc. first try to play with it happily . it takes some time but once its accustomed to u, it will never leave u again……… GOOD LUCK.When poeple cross their arms it is usually a sign of anger or being upset. She has learned from past experience that when you fold your arms she may get hurt.
Dont cross your arms in front of her.
if you got her from a pound, it could be that she was abused by her previous owner. Otherwise, she might just be very timid by nature.Bichons are super smart dogs. Way cool to!
She is probs picking up on your body language / mood. She is probs just really tuned in to you, on some degree.Love her.

i bred for 11 years and to be quite honest i did not make a lot of money all the money went in to the dogs i bred, i gave my puppies the best care and start in life, and i can sleep at night knowing that fact, but i never bred for the money i bred for the love of my breed and to improve the standard, it is only really licensed or commercial breeders who make money and some cut corners so their incoming was more than their outgoings, you get what you put into breeding and it is only really those who breed on a mass scale that would possibly make money, successful breeding is not about the money but producing a good quality dog that improves their chosen breed, success for me is seeing a dog i have bred in the show ring getting best of breed or seeing a puppy go to a good loving home where it is cherished for life that is more important than all the money in the world, best of luck with your answers honey

them while they are in heatYes, but most vets I know will say to wait. It’s better for the dog that way. Some vets will but it is slightly more dangerous as the blood vessels are enlarge leading to possible unexpected bleeding
Dogs are in heat for 21 days just keep her inside and walk her on a leash and go ahead and get an appointment for 4 weeks past the 1st day you noticed the heat .
This would be safer for her. you can buy a spray or tablets to mask her scent but you still have to keep her away from dogs another tip when bringing her for a walk carry her from your house for about 50 yards before you let her down to walk and on the way back carry her from the same spot back to the house . if any dogs pick up the *****’s scent they will follow it in the hope of mating but will lose her sent where you picked her up . so they wont follow you home..dogs will sit and wait and try every trick in the book for several days if they know where the ***** is being housed to mate with herShe can be spayed while in heat, although the surgery is more costly. Ask your vet, he may want to wait until her heat is finished.Yes you can get them spayed. Vet will advise on issues if any. Go for it and then you won’t worry about her having an unexpected pregnancy.
Good decision.Yes;usually costs a bit more & has a slightly elevated risk of excessive bleeding. You can but it’ll cost more to do so.Yes but it will cost a little Xtrayes, but it costs more.

if 2 dogs don’t lock up can they still concieve? i caught my dog humping and pushed him off, and his penis was all the way extended and expelling semenIt’s called "a tie."
Yes, the female can still conceive even if they don’t tie. If you caught it within the last day or two you can take her to the vet for a "mis-mate" shot, kind of a dog "morning after pill." Otherwise, if she’s not too far along she can still be spayed. Your vet can advise further.

I have a male Brittany and he is 5 months old. He is really healthy he’s had all of his shots, been fixed, had blood work done and he is perfect but he pees like a female. Will he grow out of this or do some male dogs never lift their legs? I have seen this in small and toy breeds but I have never seen it in medium breeds and larger breeds. I really don’t care if he ever pees with his leg up I am just curious about it THANKS!!!

I adopted a pup. I think he is a cocker spaniel. He did not come with any papers so this is my best guess. I want to know if he is a pure breed or a mutt as he has two colors in his coat.
How old do you think he is?
Check his pic :-
i466.photobucket.com/albums/rr25/…Color doesn’t mean anything.
If you didn’t buy a purebred & registered animal from a reputable breeder,odds are it’s a mutt/mongrel.
You will NEVER know.
You -& everybody else-can guess til the cows come home.
Mutts can’t be registered-REPUTABLE registries are only for PROVEN purebreds from proven purebred parents-of the same breed, obviously.
Fakes will "register" a goat as Dane if you pay em to.Since the parentage is unknown you can never be 100% sure that he’s purebred and you can’t ever be registered.
Once the dog is older you could have breeders have a look at him and give you their opinions. Even then you can’t claim that he’s a true purebred dog without papers to back it up. Cocker Spaniels are a very popular breed and so many come from puppy mills and BYBs. Your dog could possibly be purebred, but chances are is a badly bred dog that originated from irresponsible breeders. Quality purebred dogs normally don’t end up in shelters, because breeders want to protect what they’ve worked most of their lives on perfecting.don’t listen to what these people are saying, i have had cocker spaniels ever since i was 4, he is definitely a pure cocker, an orange roan (my favourite of all the cocker spaniel colourings =]) just because he isn’t kc registered and didn’t come with any papers DOES NOT mean that ‘the chances are he’s a mutt’ and alot of people will be thinking that he’s a springer x cocker because of his shoert ears, WRONG, all cockers ears are that short, it’s just that as they get older the fur on the ears gets longer and so the ears look longer but they’re not, it’s common for people to mistake cocker pups for springers or springer x cockers. he looks about 2-4 months old but you’d get a more accurate estimate by taking him to the vet, they will also be able to assure you that he is pure cocker. by the way, he is gorgeous!!!!I’m sorry, I don’t think he can be registered. When a purebred dog is born, breeders notify the AKC that they’re AKC registered dogs have had puppies. Then AKC sends them paperwork, and that’s why you can get AKC registered pups (I see ads for them in the newspaper all the time). Without papers that come with the dog, you’re out of luck.
I know, I wanted to register my lab cross because I think there’s a chance she may be all lab (except for her wire coat… but I was hoping they could overlook that), but they said without papers from her parents, it’s a no-go.
I really do like your pup, though. It may be a purebred. A recent study found 1 in 4 shelter dogs may be purebred, but there’s really no way to prove it. I’m sorry.well the question is why would you want to register him he isn’t going to be in any comformation shows anyway he is def spaniel just to let you know he may grow hair in his ears that will need pull about every other week or less becasue the lack of air to the iner ear will cause ear infections groomers can do this for you if you don’t know how and the hair inbetween the toes may have to be trimmed becasue it may matt and cause issues for this little guy and these people who talk about these big time breeder know nothing i have worked with some of them and they aren’t as nice as there painted just love the pup becasue he’ll love you you can do many thing with him even if he is not pure blood like rally for one mix breeds are the foundation for new breeds and there are many unregonized breeds out there no pure breed started out of pureblood boxer german shepherd tosa inu’s all the breeds started out one thing and ended up as anotherMaybe a Brittany/Cocker Spaniel mix
www.dogster.com/dogs/615982
Or Brittany/English Cocker Spaniel mix
www.dogster.com/dogs/50388
Anywhere from 12-16 weeks….have a vet check his teeth….puppies lose their baby teeth between 4-5 months…so if your puppy hasn’t lost its baby teeth then good guess that he is probably around 4 months old…
Take his weight at 4 months/16 weeks- if you double the figure then you will get an accurate adult weight range your puppy will most likely reach when its full grown.
Good Luck!- Beautiful Puppy! The picture isn’t that big but I think your dog may be a Brittany spaniel/german short-hair pointer (My reasoning is the main coloring, reddish gold on white (Brittany) and small flecks of color on the white (GSP)) both of these dogs are in the medium to large-medium range. Both of these dogs are hunting dogs so it is possible that a hunter has one of both breeds and they had babies.

www.terrificpets.com/dog_breeds/G…He is definitely a spaniel that’s for sure. But he does not look like a mutt. He looks pure breed to me. I’m guessing he is about 2 months old. He will not get really big. Only about medium size. BTW, you just saved a puppy that could have been put to sleep. WAY TO GO.so what if he is a mutt?does that make him less loveable or deserving?mutts are beautiful…i got two mutts and i wouldnt trade them for any pure breds. and age can be determined by their teeth so take it to the vet and please love it…it shouldnt matter that its not pure bred. Thanks for adopting. He looks like a mix of Springer and or Cocker. Just a baby about 5 mos. as far as I can tell. How big? won’t know that. Just love your new puppy and when the vet looks at him again, ask him what he thinks as well.
(I love it when someone adopts!!!!!!
He has some big paws on him, so maybe 40-50lbs he looks like a springer spaniel more than a cocker. He’s adorable though. I don’t believe he can be registered if he’s not a pure bred.looks more springer than cocker.
maybe four months
would say mix
no telling what size with mix. goggle springer spaniel to see sizes.
registered as what? He’s actually a springer spaniel. He’s going to be big. That is his secret to tell! If you really want to know try those DNA test. He is very cute. Hope you two are happy together
he is part spaniel ,but he is adorable ,please rub his ears for me lolawe soooo cute, definate spanielHe looks more springer spaniel to me. maybe 3 or 4 months old from the picAwwww, he’s soo CUTE! I don’t know. Maybe you should visit a vet.
All I know is he’s so cute!!!What a gorgeous pup! I’m going to say he is around 12-15 weeks, but it’s hard to say without seeing a photo of him standing.
My first thought was English cocker spaniel, but they tend to have slightly droopier eyes than your pup displays here, not to mention the ear length is quite longer. Here’s an English pup twosillyenglishcockerboys.blogspo… I definitely wouldn’t guess that he has American cocker – they are quite different from the standard spaniel look.
Then I thought perhaps your pup is a Welsh springer spaniel – but your pup has more spots. www.fwi.co.uk/blogs/fw-kids-conne… Welsh springers have more solid coloring, like a pinto, with occasional flecks of color. Your puppy is a bit more Appaloosa : ) but that can change, of course, as he grows.
I don’t think he has any English springer spaniel, simply because as pups they have very heavy ears, heavier jowls and droopy eyes, and I believe they only come in liver/white and black/white. www.dogbreedinfo.com/images21/Eng…
Your pup very well could have some Cavalier King Charles spaniel in him www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-ga… but given the length of his nose and set of his eyes, I’d he’s more English cocker than anything.
You’ll be able to better tell when your pup is about half a year old.
Hope this helps you!
EDIT: Amanda, of course! Brittany spaniel is a very good possibility www.brittanyspanielclub.on.ca/pup… maybe even purebred.

Forget all that spirit and ghost nonsense. Its fake and not the reason why your dog is barking at the wall. Maybe there are mice or other creatures on the inside of the wall. Dog have a amazing sense of smell and hearing. It probably smells or hears something morving around in the wall. Nine times out of ten there IS a reason, other than ghosts, why a dog does this so even if you can’t see/hear what she’s hearing, there probably is something (rodent) around. And if this is a house your dog has lived in for years, I’d say it’s not ghosts! It could be mice – they are coming in for the Winter now. It could also be she’s either going deaf, or blind. Might be a good idea to get her checked over in any case as she’s entering ‘old age’.I suspect that there is something being reflected onto this wall either from a window or a mirror. Try taking any mirrors down, drawing your curtains or blinds and keeping the lights out. You should also consider spiders or a noise within the walls from your water pipes or central heating system. If you cannot resolve this, close the doors to stop her going upstairs and take her out to play. This could become a habit and it will drive you mad if you cannot sort it out or distract her.How long have you had your dog and what breed is it? There could be more to this but we need more information.
If it is a Border Collie then sometimes they do things like this. As your dog is quite old and has just started this, the dog could be picking up a sixth sense. The way to find out is to get a friend to bring their dog in with the absence of your dog and see what the reaction is. If you get the same response it could something spiritual.he might being going blind this is called shadow barking take him to the vet and see what he say . i had a rottie that did the same thing but the house was haunted i used to see door knobs turn and the cabinets use to vibrate and the couch would move like someone was moveing it or you might have mice in your wallscould be that you have rats or mice living in the partition in the walls your dog will hear them before you do keep an eye out for any signs especially in your kitchen, this happened to me and i caught all 16 of them little critters, they come into your house in winter out of the coldsounds like you need to get your house blessed. pets and young children can sense spirits better than adult humans. regardless of weather you’re catholic or not, get it blessed – although if you’ve used a oujia board, dont tell the priest or he’ll be mad at you!!It could be a ghost it is seeing but if it is running up and down the wall it could be a noise that is upsetting it. Or it could be that your dog is just eccentric.either its a ghost or your neighbors are up to something dodgy…. LOL i really don’t know..maybe she can smell a mouse or can hear something we cant ….like a GHOST!!!! lol im sorry i’ll stop now! but ya never know..since halloween is nearing hahahaha ok im going! wow first of all I am amazed by all the ghost answers! dogs have excellent hearing and she is hearing something that you are not. my dogs can hear a squirrel in the yard when I cant. What pattern is on you wall or are any shadows cast onto it? I might be that the dog is just a lil freaked out by something on the wall.Get the wall checked out. You may have beasties, termites or something. If the wall is fine then train your dog not to bark at the wall. He might be hearing rattling pipes, or a old faulty wiring, maybe even a mouse gnawing on something back there.
Be on the safe side have it checked out.my pup does that all of the time, all i do is say "what cha looking at?,,, it’s ok "and she stops.Compared to dogs’ noses & ears, humans go around w/a pillow wrapped around their heads.
Mouse in the wall? What’s inside or on the other side of that wall is alarming your dog.
If the behavior persists, I’d get it checked.
Pets are known for their "6th sense". She could be sensing something there and therefore is barking at it? Maybe there are animals in the wall. Mice?Yep – could be ghosts, get it checked outmy brother’s dog did that. There were possums in there.maybe she senses evil. or spirits. call the priest and god speed!i think it would be a mouse or some kinda critter.dogs do have better hearing then us humansset a mirror in front of his spot & see what happensit s those ghosts again !No, this is not normal.
Your dog, im sorry to say it, is retarded.

Don’t force them together. Take your time introducing them and slowly they’ll take up together, and first thing you know, the older dog will be safeguarding the pup. Things like that just take a little time, patience, and commitment.
