My 8 year old whippet has recently lost some control over his hind quarters. Still eats, drinks, and responds normally, with no signs of pain. any suggestions?Lumbosacral arthritis, hip dysplasia, Spondylosis causing a pinched nerve, etc…. can all be possible causes. Have your vet run a series of xrays.Yep, my suggestion is to have the dog examined by a vet.

Could some one tell me some tips on training an eight week old golden retreiver puppy?Well, training isnt that hard. For sit, you have a treat in your hand, swing your hand from the floor to above the dog’s head, and manually, your dog will fall into the sit position. Praise him and give him the treat, then add the verbal command. For down, you have to have a treat in your hand, lower it to the floor, your dog will either fall into a down position or hunch low. If he hunches low, you have to keep doing it until he is down completely. Come is super easy. Have someone else hold the lead. Then let him sniff the treat you have in your hand. Then walk somewhere, while saying “Good boy/girl” the whole time, say come, have the person holding him/her let go, and he will run to you like a mad dog. xD. Stay is easy too. Make him sit or be in a down position. Then say “Stay.” and then back up very slowly. If he comes toward you, say “No.”, put him down again, don’t give him the treat. Keep doing this until he learns that if he moves, no treat.
Hope this helped! ^.^hi,
The key to rock-solid housetraining is to start the day your pup comes home and stick with the program. Using a crate is the easiest method. (For older dogs, see housetraining adult dogs). In a nutshell, here are the basic steps:

I want to see who my siberian huskies great great great grandparents were No…You can order a pedigree for any one dog up to 5 generations back, but the AKC can technically trace back to as early as dogs from your line have been registered with the AKC. Since you can only buy a pedigree 5 generations back you would either have to do the reasearch by hand using the studbooks or order pedigrees for each of the 5th generation dogs. It should also be noted that the AKC says pedigree information on dogs born prior to 1980 may not be contained on the online database so would not be on the pedigree ordered but it is contained in the archives (ie the studbook) in those cases you would have to do the research by hand. Once you hit imported dogs in your dogs pedigree infromation will likely only be avaliable from the AKC for 3 generations back from that dog as that is all that is required to be provided when the imported dog is AKC registered. Information further back on those dogs would need to be obtained from the kennel club those dogs were registrered with. In theory the AKC should have a dog’s pedigree going back to the original foundation stock. You can get this information pretty easily, but it’s time consuming and expensive, so unless you really need to know I wouldn’t bother.
I’ve included the link to the AKC page that explains this fully, but I’ll give you a quick summary here. You can look up individual dogs by registered name or registration number and order their pedigrees, up to 5 generations at a time. A 5 generation pedigree costs $12. Just keep searching for dogs in each line until you get as far back as you want.
Some breed clubs also maintain similar information, although not as thoroughly as the AKC. It might be cheaper to use their databases.no, AKC should have AT LEAST 5 generations on file, usually many many more…however it costs more for a multi generation pedigree, when you get your akc papers you have to specifically order the more expensive 5-7 generation pedigree, otherwise they just send you the standard 3 gen pedigree.I know that the AKC can go WAY back. I will star, because I don’t actually know how to get this info, but I will need it myself, in the near future. They will probably make you pay an arm and a leg, though. No, in fact there are ways to go see your dog’s linage as far back as it goes.
I’ll star for my breeders contacts, they should know where to send you. They can go back as far as you want… but will make you pay for it.
good luck

She ate most of my son’s halloween candy.. I’m very nervous she might die..What do i do? :\take her to the puppy hospital and pray
then go buy ur son some more chocolateKnowing which chocolate is the most toxic is important, but leaves one wondering how much must be eaten to poison a dog. The list in this box should be helpful. Maybe you can clip it and post it on your refrigerator?
White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.
Milk chocolate: 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Approximately one pound of milk chocolate is poisonous to a 20-pound dog; one-half pound for a 10-pound dog. The average chocolate bar contains 2 to 3 ounces of milk chocolate. It would take 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10 pound dog. Semi-sweet chocolate has a similar toxic level.
Sweet cocoa: 0.3 ounces per pound of body weight. One-third of a pound of sweet cocoa is toxic to a 20-pound dog; 1/6 pound for a 10-pound dog.
Baking chocolate: 0.1 ounce per pound body weight. Two one-ounce squares of bakers’ chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one ounce for a 10-pound dog.
My dog ate a whole bag of mini choc candy and threw up and had loose stool for days. I didn’t know that she had eaten it because the wrappers were in my daughters room. It could go both ways, good or bad. Call the vet or a poison control and they can tell you how to make her puke to get rid of it.What?! She hate most of your son’s Halloween candy?! Go to the vet! A piece of chocolate for a big dog is sickness. A piece of chocolate for a small dog is fatal. That much chocolate definitely has a chance of being fatal! Plz go 2 the vet now! >.<If it was a lot the vet needs called. They usually have people on call to answer questions such as this. One piece or so isn’t bad but the whole bag could cause real problems. They may want to induce vomiting so I would call ASAPshe should probably be ok. however it’s not good for them to have all of that. if you are still concerned you should call the vet.it depends since its a lab if he/she ate a few m&ms then i think she will be fine but if it is a chocolate bar take him/her to the vet asap (as soon as possable)Take Her to the VET ASAP!!!!! That much chocolate is probably fatal!! peaceTake her to one of the Emergency 24 hour vets asap. Good luck!My lab ate a king size chocolate bar and the vet says hes VERY healthyif its a small quantity then she is ok. If not make her throw up VET ASAP!how much did she eat? call your vet clinic

We have a puppie that has parvo and she is paragnet what are the puppies to be likeWell they will come out like you, stupid, retarded and will not be able to spell correctly.if mommy has parvo it is almost certain the puppies will not survive.
Parvo is DEADLY if not treated early by a vet! treating parvo is very expensive and not always sucessfull, if caught early enough theres a 50/50 survival rate for a strong healthy dog, puppies have an even lower chance (i have NEVER heard of unborn/newborn/young puppies surviving if the mother has parvo)
and if you dont catch it early enough the survival cnaces go down literally with each passing hour!hi,
Even though it’s a relatively new disease in the dog world, parvo’s ubiquitous–present at significant levels in every environment, from home to kennel to park. In fact, trying to shield a puppy from exposure is considered completely futile in this day and age. It’s a ridiculously tough virus that can survive for months on living things, and even on objects such as furniture, toys, and carpets.
here’s more info:
dogtime.com/parvovirus.html
hope this helps. The puppies will probably all be dead as will the mother. You ought to be prosecuted for animal cruelty. What is paragnet anyway? Do you mean pregnant?
If by some slim chance your dog survives, have it desexed.Being sick with parvo as a puppy has no effect on the dog as an adult or the genetic DNA passed on to the offspring. puppies will probaly be deformed at least, &could be born mummified or still born.sorry!you shouldnt have a PUPPY that is pregnant first of all. second if the dogs not treated for parvo it will die which means no puppies
