« Will my younger dog start trying to dominate the older dog?

Our female boxer is in the middle/end of her heat.
Our 9 mos old male boxer has been showing signs of "sexual excitement" for a couple of months. Not sure if they’ve mated or not. Today, the tip of his private is sticking out and has been for more than 12 hours now. Is this normal?
Please-no perverts. Use respect and maturity. Thank you.if the pink part of the penis is sticking out and the dog cannot get it to retract, then you need to manually assist the dog to get it back in, or take him to a vet.. 12 hours is far too long to let this go!
Most likely the skin of the sheath has rolled inward and is preventing the penis from retracting.. you should rinse off the penis with sterile water to wash away any dirt and debris.. take a sterile lubricant such as KY or Vaseline and gently unroll the sheath so that the penis can retract.
If its already irritated, swollen, you cant get it to retract, or you are too squeamish to do it yourself, then the dog NEEDS a vet! This isnt something to put off any longer, as it will end up infected.. I know someone who had to put their dog to sleep because the issue wasnt resolved in a timely manner.
ADDED
I dont think I can stress how serious this issue is.. when the penis is retracted like that, the blood supply is being cut off.. if the issue is not resolved NOW, the tissues will die and become infected.actually allowing dogs to breed is already messing with mother nature.. in the wild, there are natural selection, and also only ALPHA male and females mate. You also do not know if your dogs are really quality or not, being purebred does not mean quality.. dogs need to be shown, earn CH titles and Report Abuse
have genetic health tests to assure quality. There are PLENTY of boxers in shelters and rescues already, even purebreds. You cant compare it to teenagers getting pregnant.. teens know better. We also do not euthanize children and homeless people because of lack of homes. Report Abuse
Yes this does need attention as the answer above states.
What also does worry me is the age of the male dog and the fact that you don’t know if they have mated. Dogs should not be allowed to breed this young as there bodies are still developing and they are too young for you to know if they will be suitable for breeding (have no physical or temperament faults). Please do keep them separate until he is at least 18 months, then make sure they both have all there tests prior to allowing them to mate.Someone who’s obviously, painfully …recklessly….ignorant, needs to RUSH to the vet TODAY & castrate & spay!
"Not sure if they’ve mated……." aaaauuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhhhhi have an idea why dont you spay and neuter enough dogs in this world a dog should not be sticking out for that long VET VET VET

Someone told me that when a dog lays with his/her legs out straight, like a frog, means that they have hip dysplaysia. I always thought that when a dog can lay flat like that it meant they had good hips and could even climb things like trees and ladders. Help????
