Hello,
I currently have a dog who is 14 years old, shes been slowing down and isn’t as active as she once was. My best friend got a puppy and brought it to the house and my dog seemed as if she was happy to see it. She was wagging her tail and sniffing it and following it, for once she seemed not so alone and almost as maybe she enjoyed it
My parents tell me that I should wait because she should be able to go in peace if its any time soon. Is this true? What do you think I should do?I am thinking it is better to wait. While a puppy can be a help to an older dog, the puppy suffers a loss when the older dog dies. It is also hard to take care of a dying dog and the needs of an older dog, and the demands of a very active puppy. I have been there, and that was hard. I think the best thing would be to let your friends puppy visit, that way the older dog can enjoy the puppy, but won’t be overwhelmed with a full time puppy. I think you should wait. I think it sounds like a good idea to get a puppy now if she seems a bit more active, it might do her good to have some fun before she passes away. On the other hand it might be too much for her constantly playing with a puppy. For now i think that you should just let your friend bring round the puppy often and see if she can keep up with it.first let me say im very sorry bout your dog i know having a animal is like having a child. but if shes happier with the puppy then I would get one between the time she goes she will have a blast. But it depends on your dog I would go for it. hope everything goes good goodluck.awwwww! how cute.. 14 years wow!
i think you should wait, if you get a new puppy your attention will be divided.. and your 14 year old dog will probably pass soon
so i think its worth the wait therefore your current dog will get the attention all to its self for herself for her remaining years.I would wait until your 14 year old goes. She might think you are taking attension from her. I have a pug and I want a lab but I cant get a lab until my dog goes because I would feel so bad like it would probably seem like you dont like your old dog that much anymore. Hope I helped! Some older dogs are happier to have a pup around… and some older dogs have been known to become more active and lively when a pup is brought into the household.
Just depends on her reactions to a young pup.Get another puppy,
she probably wants a child and is depressed since she doesnt have one thus she feels her life isnt complete.
getting a puppy should make her feel better.
AND DONT GIVE UP ON HER UNTIL SHE ACTUALLY IS DEAD!I would wait. Try to give your dog more attention or maybe have puppies visit the house once in a while. It depends on a lot of things. Your dog seems very old, so in my opinion you should wait for her to pass on first.let the poor dog die in peace
buy another one when he… goesLet her go, and then get another puppy. Now don’t wait Sorry about
